Activities for Term 1, 2026
The purpose of this Preparation Kit is to provide teachers and students with an opportunity to explore some problem solving challenges before Module One is released in Term 2, 2026.
The kit contains a selection of new activities that review Finding all Possibilities from Maths Quest 2025, and a new number challenge, All Lines Alike.
With teacher guidance, they are appropriate for both students who completed Maths Quest 2024 and for students who are new to the program. We encourage students to work together with a partner to solve the problems.

This video will demonstrate the activities included in the Preparation Kit and outline how to introduce the activities to your class.
Activity #1 – Finding What Belongs

This activity uses sets of elements to find what does, and what does not, belong.
Print the activity sheet below for your students. There is a solutions page included.
Students use a highlighter to circle what they find.
Activity #1 – Finding What Belongs Instructions
Set 1: Find and highlight all the numbers that are less than 8.
Set 2: Find and highlight all the animals that have whiskers.
Set 3: Find and highlight all the shapes that have 4 sides.
Set 4: Find and highlight the dominoes that have an odd number of spots.
Set 5: Find and highlight the coins that are worth more than 50c.
Set 6: Find and highlight the dice that don’t show the number one.
