The Senior Maths Games program is an opportunity for mainstream students and mixed ability classes in Years 7 and 8 to learn valuable problem solving skills, strategies and techniques. It provides mainstream students with an opportunity to learn and develop their maths problem solving skills in a non-competitive environment. The program builds students’ confidence while focusing on the application of specific strategies.

The program comprises four papers, held approximately six weeks apart, on the same dates as the Maths Olympiad contest.

Sample Resource Kit:

Here is a sample Resource Kit. Resource Kits are provided before each paper, comprising sample questions and solutions that focus on the specific strategies that will be included in that paper. The Resource Kits include sets of questions of varying difficulty, to cater for a range of skill levels across the class.

Sample Contest Paper:

The competition comprises of four contest papers, held approximately six weeks apart. It begins in early Term 2 and finishes at the end of Term 3. Fully worked solutions are provided for all contest papers.

Here is a sample of a Senior Maths Games Contest Paper – Paper 2, 2023. Students have 30 minutes to complete a paper. Detailed solutions are provided in the file for teachers to refer to.
